Chimères

“Chimères” is the intimate and autobiographical story of the couple Noah Ambiehl and Mathis Benestebe, two photographers. Through their images, we discover the loved one through the gaze of the other, while the singularity of their story comes to light. Here, love bears witness to their individual statements, along with the experience of gender transition, like a plinth and force, each and every day. Oscillating between brutality and tenderness, their instinctive approach explores the ambivalent feelings of their experience. This photographic work, carried out over a year, roots their story in reality, far from collective fantasies, and makes it possible for the two artists to feel its truth.

“ I could never explain how much I love him. My love cannot be counted, and yet, one thing I know for sure is that it’s far too big not to be experienced forever.”

“I love you so much when you get up in the morning all tired, when you look at the world, when you smile, when you sleep, I love you so much when you talk for hours on end (...) I'm so happy, so happy to have met you. Thank you, thank you for being here. Thank you for being who you are. I'm sad to leave, but I'll be back soon, to share this life together, until the end.”
