Black-out

Like a search in a forbidden attic, "Black-out" explores my recovery from traumatic amnesia.
Loss of memory generated by intense stress, this neuro-psychological mechanism is characterized by a disconnection between the amygdala and the hippocampus during a traumatic event. Emotional information is then dissociated from the memory circuit, leading to a freezing of memories.

Exploring my unconscious under UV light, I attempt to reach these inaccessible events. Composed of a number of chapters, "Black-out" begins with archival images from my early photographic trials and tribulations between the ages of five and ten.

From the project :

There’s something behind the wall
It rings with a heavy, hollow sound
It’s a doorless, windowless room
In the middle of this inhospitable house

Before finding the black box, everything was silent.
